The naval ship building industry of Europe is facing real challenges and pressure from Asian countries but when it comes to making cruise ship the European superiority is still recognized. As these pictures shows below.
11. Rapidly developing industries
This year 50 million or two and a half crore people from various countries will spend their sea holidays on cruise ships. These numbers are 1 million more than in 2016. More travelers means need of more ships. This year 26 new ships are being included in worldwide global fleet of 448 crore ships. The ships for small rivers and large ships for deep seas will be also include in these.

Only this year in the global fleet of cruise ships, in which deep sea traveling cruise ships are being included, their number is 12. Overall More than 28 thousand passengers will be able to travel in these ships at a time. According to the organization of naval shipbuilding industry CLIA globally every fourth such cruise ship will be made of any Germen ship yard or its sub branch.

44. Three European shipyards dominated the cruise shipbuilding.
The shipyards are dominating the shipbuilding industry in the whole world. These include the Italian company Fincantieri, France’s STX and the Meyer shipyard cited in German city Papen burg. Till early 2016 the Italian company Fincantieri had orders of making 24 new ships, the Meyer shipyard of Germany owned 21 and STX of France possess orders of making 12 new cruise ships.

In the field of cruise shipbuilding only non-European is active company in Japan’s Mitsubishi heavy industries who have made order of only one cruise ship. Later, Mitsubishi abounded the ship building work. The Germen ship yard had made seven very large luxurious cruise ships for only one cruise company Idea, till 2013. In 2011 idea gave Mitsubishi order of 2 cruise ships but this work could not reach completion.
66. Return of Idea
In 2015 idea endorsed that Germany’s Meyer shipyard will make two new ships for them. Every ship will have cabins for more than two and a half thousand passengers and both ships will run from liquid natural gas. One ship will be handed over to Idea in autumn season of 2018 and the other in 2021’s spring season. These ship will be less harmful to environment.
77. Less harmful effects of most advanced naval ships.
Nowadays, ships are designed in advanced technology in a way that instead of petrol or diesel they run on liquid gas. So emission of fatal gases for environment decreases. These days the use of electric motors less electricity consuming LED lights are also being given more attention. The performance can be further improved in field of energy by manufacturing these ships with the use of less weighted building material.
88. The extra-large cruise ship from very large ships.
“Harmony of the seas” is now the biggest and stunning cruise ship. It is 66 meter wide and 362 meter long. In this 16 story ship, there are 20 dining rooms, 23 swimming pools and also one park in which 12 thousand plants are planted. The capacity of passengers on this ship is 5,489 allowing more than 2000 staff members too. This ship is also called “The Floating City”, on building this, French company had got paid more than one billion Euro.
98. 15 April 1992, the bad day for history of cruise ship.
‘Titanic’ was a 269 meter long a nine storey cruise ship. Which have capacity of 2687 passengers and 860 staff members. On time of its first and last journey it has 2200 passengers and hundreds of staff members were also on board out of whom 1500 died. All of them could not be rescued. But another rescuing cruise ship named Carpetha reached at that place where the titanic was sunk just one hour and twenty minutes latet.
110. The new possible rival in cruise shipbuilding China.
In future China can become new business competitor for European cruise shipbuilding companies. Last year one million Chinese people did cruise shipping. By 2030 these numbers could reach eight million. In July 2015 Italian company Fincantieri starts a new project together with a Chinese cruise shipbuilding corporation (CSSC), according to which ships can be manufactured for the cruise shipping Chinese market.
