Alluring and highly demanding Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo has natural wooded habitats found in some areas around the Globe like Australia, New Guinea and in some areas of Indonesia. They are not only brilliant and intelligent bird but also well known for keeping and rearing at home. These Cockatoos are very demanding bird for many pet lovers.

1. Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo Behavior
As we know that almost every Parrot when walks look much funny and attractive. Cockatoos have a loud voice. They are not only intelligent but also naturally curious. They are usually called as noisy birds and communicate through screeching voices. Cockatoos are when excited or feel any danger then they usually raise their beautiful and splendid crests. They have natural ability to settle in a given environment. In a wild, some species have arranged and managed a security system for self-protection, that is; when the flock is on the ground then there is at least one cockatoo high up on the tree, for the purpose of guarding other Cockatoos.
2. Sulphur-Crested Cockatoos lifespan
These Cockatoos have an amazing lifespan time period, not only in a wild but also in captivity (as a pet). They have an average lifespan of 40 to 45 years in a wild but can live there in wild up to 100 years… On the other hand, they have an average lifespan of 70 years in captivity and if well cared, then they can live up to 120 years… It’s stunning, isn’t it? One cockatoo “Fred” ( his name ) was reported to be still alive till 2014 and died at the age of 100 years. At their older age stage, they have lost their feathers and became naked.
3. Yellow-Crested Cockatoos
One of the most beautiful, intelligent and famous Cockatoo is Yellow-Crested Cockatoo, also known as lesser Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo. These are found in some islands of Indonesia. Lesser Sulphur Cockatoos as its name implies, doesn’t mean that they are much rare or could endanger. Lesser means they are in less population as compared to other Cockatoo species.
Lesser Cockatoos have resembled greater Sulphur Cockatoos but are smaller and approximately 3-5 inch shorter in length. All the feathers on its body are totally white except the crest ( i call this a Crown ) that is yellow in colour. This species is famous among other Cockatoos if you google just “Cockatoos” you would see 70% of Yellow-Crested Cockatoos videos and images there. These are when kept as a pet, require a lot of affection and attention. It is highly suggested that they should be kept in a pair.
4 Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo’s Diet
Diet for Cockatoos can be divided into two categories, one is in wild region and the other is in captivity. In a Wild, Cockatoos are fed by seeds of grasses, trees, herbaceous plants etc. They can also eat leaf buds, nuts, and berries. They usually damage cereal and fruit crops in Australia, consequently sometimes poisoned or shot to death. However, in captivity, There feeds are vegetables, fresh fruits, high-quality seeds, and pellets.
5 Australian Cockatoos
Australia is the only place where maximum Cockatoo’s species are found naturally. Approximately twenty-one species exist only in Australia and the remaining seven species are found collectively in New Guinea, Philippines and in some islands of Indonesia. Sulphur Crested Cockatoos found naturally in the north and east of Australia, like Kimberley, Tasmania, Adelaide, Sydney, Canberra and also in Melbourne.
